BUOYANCY CHANGES EVERYTHING
What Is Advanced Buoyancy?
Advanced Buoyancy is a specialty for divers who want to spend less time fighting their gear and more time enjoying the dive.
You’ll work on the details that make a real difference underwater: proper weighting, horizontal trim, breathing control, finning technique, and maintaining position without constantly using your hands or inflator.
The goal is not to look good in photos. It is to become more efficient, more aware of your surroundings, and more comfortable maintaining control throughout the dive.

Yes. Advanced Buoyancy can be completed in confined water or open water depending on the training plan, location, and your goals. However, we prefer to teach Advanced Buoyancy in open water conditions at a variety of depths within the student's training limitations.
No. The prerequisite is Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent. Advanced Buoyancy is often one of the best specialties to take early because the skills carry into every type of diving that comes next.
You will work on proper weighting, horizontal trim, breathing control, streamlined body position, finning technique, hovering, and maintaining position without relying on constant inflator adjustments or hand movements.
Better buoyancy and trim can reduce unnecessary movement and effort, which may help you dive more efficiently. The course does not promise a specific improvement in air consumption, since breathing rate is affected by many individual factors.
Potentially. If you completed the Advanced Buoyancy Adventure Dive during your Advanced Adventure course, that dive may count as the first dive toward the full specialty. Contact us with your training records and we can confirm what applies.
