A Place to Build What Comes Next

MORE THAN TRAINING

For some veterans and service members, diving can become part of post-traumatic growth: taking on a meaningful challenge, developing discipline, and reconnecting with a sense of purpose after difficult experiences.

Diving demands focus. Underwater, the noise drops away. You are managing your equipment, your breathing, your plan, and the environment around you. For many divers, that level of presence is one of the most valuable parts of being in the water.

Precision Depth Diving is not a mental-health provider, and scuba training is not a substitute for professional care. But we believe diving can offer a constructive outlet, a demanding new skill set, and a community built around preparation, accountability, and shared experience.

Whether your goal is to earn your first course, return to diving, progress into technical training, or explore a career in the dive industry, we are here to help you build a path forward.

For veterans who want to make diving more than a hobby, we also offer mentorship around continuing education, technical-diving progression, professional-level training, and practical career pathways in the dive industry.

Course approval lists and reimbursement amounts can change, so confirm current eligibility with VA before enrolling.

Yes. While Precision Depth Diving does not currently offer instructor training directly, we can help you build a practical path toward instructor-level, or technical-professional goals. We have partnered with veteran-friendly SDI and TDI training facilities in the area and can help connect you with the right next step when you are ready. That may include continued skill development, professional-level prerequisites, instructor-development pathways, or technical training that supports your long-term goals in diving.

No. GI Bill® reimbursement is generally requested after you complete the eligible course and submit the required documentation. You should plan to pay the course fee upfront unless VA confirms another arrangement applies to your benefits. Contact us for more information.

The reimbursement amount depends on the approved certification or license, your remaining education benefits, and VA’s current rules. SDI has a listing of courses and reimbursement amounts on their website. The amounts shown on this page reflect the SDI/TDI published program list and may change. VA makes the final payment decision.

SDI lists Open Water Scuba Diver as an approved certification within its GI Bill® program. Your individual eligibility, remaining entitlement, and reimbursement are determined by VA.

VA reimbursement applies only to specific approved certifications, licenses, examinations, or preparatory programs. A course may be valuable training and still not appear on the current approved list and we still offer a discount on those courses.

VA generally requires a completed VA Form 22-0803, proof of payment, and proof that you earned the applicable certification or license. SDI/TDI also directs divers to include its Certification Validation Form with reimbursement requests. Keep your receipt and course-completion documentation.

No. You are responsible for submitting your reimbursement request to VA. We can provide course receipts and completion documentation and help point you toward the appropriate SDI/TDI and VA resources.

Do not assume these costs are reimbursable. VA’s licensing and certification reimbursement process is tied to approved certification or test fees. Confirm which expenses are eligible directly with VA before enrolling.

Potential eligibility depends on the VA education benefit you are using, your remaining entitlement, and the approved certification or license. SDI/TDI’s program is available to veterans and active service members, but VA determines individual eligibility.

Contact us before booking. Military and veteran discounts may apply to eligible course fees, but whether a discounted payment affects reimbursement should be verified with VA before you submit a claim.

VA provides current licensing-and-certification reimbursement instructions and the online or downloadable VA Form 22-0803. SDI/TDI also maintains its current approved diving certification and license list.

Yes. Precision Depth Diving offers SDI Divemaster training regardless of GI Bill® reimbursement status.

SDI Divemaster is not currently shown on SDI/TDI’s published GI Bill® approved certification and license list, so we cannot advertise it as reimbursable through VA at this time. That does not change your ability to enroll, complete the course, gain professional-level experience, or build toward future instructor training.

We can help you map out the prerequisites, training schedule, practical experience requirements, and next steps toward Assistant Instructor or Open Water Instructor pathways.
